We headed down to SPX this past weekend and found a number of excellent people (many of whom — perhaps coincidentally? — seem to publish books with us).
Here are pictures!
Teen barbarians vs. zombies! With Zack Giallongo, the proud author of Broxo, which is full of both those things.
The Cute Girl Network authors — Greg Means, MK Reed, and Joe Flood — pose together with an advance copy of their upcoming graphic novel — the first time ever together!
Greg (who is the author and not the artist) signs the first ever copy of The Cute Girl Network with an adorable skater girl!
Joe Flood poses with his previous book, Orcs — both the US and the French editions!
Behold the awesomeness that is Dave Roman’s extremely shiny and also hilarious graphic novel Astronaut Academy: Re-Entry.
SPX featured guest Gene Luen Yang signs a copy of his first-ever graphic novel with First Second, American Born Chinese.
Gene’s epic graphic novel diptych about the Boxer Rebellion, Boxers & Saints debuted at SPX this year — here Gene is signing a copy of Boxers with one of the Chinese opera gods. (Also, you can see he’s wearing the t-shirt from his local comics store — Flying Colors!)
And here’s Gene with Raina Telgemeier (Smile) and Chris Mautner after their ‘In Conversation’ program.
Nick Abadzis shows off his wonderful graphic novel about the first dog ever to go to outerspace — Laika!
And here’s Lucy Knisley with her great New York Times Best-Selling graphic novel Relish! (You can also see in this image the tattoo she got on her art after getting it — a crossed spoon and fork!)
We had a great time at this year’s show!
